The Ferrari 348 has long been considered the "black sheep" of the Ferrari V8 family -- the "middle child" that purists don't like. Today I'm reviewing a Ferrari 348 to show you why it deserves a better reputation than it has.

So imagine you have a car accident, your car turns upside down, hits a wall from with its side and the doors won’t open. Now the engine is on fire, you try to leave the car but you can’t unbuckle yourself cause the door is closed and the automatically buckle won’t release. Rip

I really enjoyed this video and learned a lot about the 348- good job!
I'm sure that all of the weird quirks you mentioned about this car come from it being designed with an intentional resemblance to the Testarossa (including the wheels).
The orange instruments are 100% Testarossa... I heard years ago that a lot of the interior features of the TR (like the windshield wiper and turn signal stalks) "came out of the Fiat parts bin".
Though the Testarossa's grille IS functional- it sends cooling air to the front brakes.

Also, I'm pretty sure that the TR's automatic seatbelts were "normal" automatic seatbelts that ran up the A pillar (like on my '92 Nissan 240SX)- these belts are SUPER weird (and stupid!)

HEADROOM: How tall are you and how does the 348's headroom compare to the Testarossa?

The only thing this car needs is new wheels and to paint the black pieces on the bottom body-color (or buy a later 348 on which they are body-color), and to make replacement T-tops out of fiberglass so they can be painted body-color too.

It handles like a barn door though. One of the worst handling Ferraris ever made. The driving and experience got savaged by journalists and the press full stop

When owners drove it they were not just disappointed, they pretty much agreed in one huge great big stampede with the press. They then cried with the knowledge that they could never again enjoy driving their new pride and joy.

So bad was the understeer into oversteer, that it would wreck the rear tyres everytime it unsticks, but it would also wreck the differential on the rebound.

And let's not even mention a Spider or the T bar, because the chassis was so stingy in terms of stiffness that the car would flex going over uneven camber.

It also had more than a bag of problems in terms of reliability. It was almost always in the shop being repaired for the most minor thing. And then when you weren't looking, it would be in the shop for some major thing.

And when something went wrong it was extremely expensive to put right.

After one or two years ownership, most put them on the market - even accepting huge depreciation and taxtrapping - just so they could get rid of it and buy another model.

The F355 is light years ahead of the 348, light years more drivable, light years more reliable, and light years better looking.

By the time a 348 Spider hits the tarmac, a 355 Berlinetta has already left the solar system.

I drove this car today and I have two thoughts.
1) it's one of the most beautiful cars I've seen in person, and I park supercars for a living
and 2) it is awful to drive. Incredibly heavy steering and awkward gear changes. It feels ancient.

Oh, and 3) it sounds incredible and has the most sensitive throttle of anything I've driven.
Conclusion: it's impossibly cool but I wouldn't want one.
