The Ferrari 348 has long been considered the "black sheep" of the Ferrari V8 family -- the "middle child" that purists don't like. Today I'm reviewing a Ferrari 348 to show you why it deserves a better reputation than it has.

Why would you engineer a car where a relatively cheap part requires a massive overhaul? lol

The alloys are nothing alike. Both 5 spoke but entirely different.

That is NOT how other automatic seat belts of that era worked. The one time Doug goes on and on about automatic seat belts like they're something special and they actually ARE. I've never seen an automatic seat belt like that and did not realize the 348 had such a design. It seems pretty idiotic, to be frank, but interesting nonetheless.

Side note, this is probably why the value of these things hasn't risen as much as other Ferraris, as my interest in the car was immediately diminished upon seeing how awkward entering the car is.

I've always kind of liked the 348. It kind of looks like it's copying the TR-512 with the side strakes, and for the longest time, that was the thing I most disliked about it. I've since come around on side strakes (on both cars), probably mainly because it was such a short-lived trend that not many cars ever copied, and also I guess I'm far enough past the 80's that I can love them.

The front end is also, IMO, a minor disappointment. I'd say the same thing about the 328, I'm just not a fan of those kind of fog lights usually, although they do look pretty darn good on the Testarossa. The overall side profile of the car looks really good though, and the rear of the car is awesome! I love the straked tail lights, and this basic shape of mid-engine V8 Ferrari is one of my favorites. The F355 is a better-looking car and quite possibly my favorite Ferarri ever (let's pretend the 288 GTO doesn't exist for a second, okay?), but this is like it's prototype version. It doesn't have a 5-valve head (although even Ferrari decided that was a waste of time, I guess, and went back to 4-valve designs, maybe more isn't always better), but it sounds almost as good and while I love those circular tail lamps on so many classic Ferrari designs, these straked tail lights spit in their face while giving them a run for their money.

I can't complain about much about this car at all, I would love to own or even just drive one. This will be a very popular car in the future, and it should be.

The 348 is by far my most favorite Ferrari of all time. It came out just a few months after my birth, but it's so modern looking compared to any other car that came out in the late 80s. I always felt that, compared to other Ferrari models of that period, the design was facing more towards the future instead of just resembling what was cool back then. Lamborghini did a similar approach with the Diablo, but I think the 348 still wins the competition!

Is the 3 year belt service because they havent invented reinforced rubber strong enough to last more than 3 years?

I always wonder what people sitting behind Doug at a red light think he's doing assuming they can't see the camera. They just see him having a conversation with himself haha

The evenly fired V8 sounds like a straight 4... sadly enough.

I own a few old sweet heart cars from the late '6os & 'early 70's; my teenage dreams.Still my 1932 Ford V8 Coupe, now that's my sweetheart.

Get a 1990 Ford Thunderbird with all the trimmings like I did. Look at it, severely love it before the gas pedal sticks and by luck you miss a solid brick & mortar stoop. I love Fords, but be prepared because FORD won't back up crap that you've not received a recall letter; then watch out for the slimy bunch in your Ford service dpt. I take my Ford to a good Chevy mechanic & keep my eye out for bull.

Larry Hagman's wife had a 348. I couldn't fit in it. I had NO idea the steering column lifted, and Larry didn't tell me while he was watching me attempt to get in it (my knees were against the wheel). So, I've yet to drive one. Maybe I will now knowing I can lift the steering wheel! Ferrari's seating positions range from short person (average Italian) to card-carrying Lollipop Guild Munchkin member.
