Hi , I am planning to buy a new car this month. My monthly running is about 900-1000 Km, mostly in the city (Kolkata).
Is Automatic transmission is a must have for me? I feel it would be very convenient to drive an Automatic in the heavy traffic.
But I have liked S-Cross and WRV either of which doesnt have an AMT/CVT option.
For AMT option I have to go for Dzire. I presently own a Swift Dzire 2008 model which I will be exchanging with the current deal.
What is your opinion? S-Cross/WRV/Dzire ? Should I stick to Dzire for AMT or should I choose between WRV/S-Cross?

+CarDekho - Thank you and the team for giving me such a prompt and detailed reply. It was indeed helpful consulting with you. I will take your advice of Ford EcoSport and have a visit at the showroom for a test drive.

+Kaustav Saha Every one of us knows that traffic is becoming an ever increasing pain. It does not matter how quick your manual gearbox responds or how reliable it is when you get stuck in a huge traffic jam and suffer excruciating pain in your left leg constantly depressing the clutch.

If you'll be driving more in heavy city traffic then we suggest you to opt for Automated Manual Transmission(AMT) which are easier to use and more comfortable for the driver, while Manual Transmission vehicles are less expensive more involved & are more fun to drive on highways.

The Maruti Dzire sits at the top of the compact sedan segment quite comfortably. A whole lot has improved with the new generation, and this time around, it actually deserves the number one spot.

Furthermore, as per the car monthly usage, Petrol will be definitely a better option to go with as it will be more economical when it comes to maintenance and overall running cost. So, S-Cross rules out here as it is solely available in diesel fuel type.

You can also have any eye on Ford Ecosport as well, which is also coupled with auto-gear box.

cardekho i wanted to know that weight reduction of the car is really good thing or maruti has compromised with the build quality

CarDekho thanks for your reply

+ROHAN AGARWAL Better build quality does help make a car safer but it is not the only factor. Hopefully, we will have the Dzire's crash test results soon so we can understand how safe it is better.

Maruti could have added or updated Diesel engines or an option of Turbo petrol would have been great.

Price is deffinately of the area where maruti generelly nails it but this time not really.

what do u say guys

+Punit Keswani Very valid observations. Maruti has stuck with its tried and tested powertrains, when they could have offered something more exciting. That said, the existing engines are quite capable and while the pricing is on the expensive side, it still delivers good value. To see how it fares against the competition, do give this a read - http://bit.ly/2w5fcDT

Is there any relation in it's build quality and safety, I mean as build quality is not at par with it's rivals is it less safe too, and is the reason build quality?

Saubhagya Srivastava you can rely on them but watch them carefully because each car's two or three version are tested one with least safety options available and one equipped with safety pack, to get an idea of rating for particular product in India refer to the car with least safety tech and stars, this car will score 3 without safety pack and 4 with safety pack, for sure and that's my assumption looking at the result of baleno ignis and new swift

CarDekho Thanks so much for response, but I'm a bit confused whether we should rely on crash test results as NCAP crash tests are done on European version of car which would definitely be safer than indian version of same car. It would be great if you can clarify whether this is correct.

Is it better to go for Top Model manual Dzire petrol than lower model Ciaz? Boot space in Dzire is sufficient for me

+Vatsal Chhabra Both the siblings are great options & belonging to Maruti family, they are backed by the strong after-sales network. In the compact-sedan (Dzire) you will get impressive feature list because of being a higher trim wherein you've to compromise with the feature in the base trim of premium Ciaz & as you stated boot area is adequate for you.

Is it true that New Maruti Dzire 2017 has the "Steering Wheel Problem" and ther are changing the Steering Assembly in each and every car. Link: https://www.motorbeam.com/2017-maruti-dzire-steering-assembly-replaced/. We will will be greatly benefited if CarDekho will make a video on this Problem and make us aware about the Real Facts.
